Now You See Me!****

Now You See Me!****

Tagline: Come in close, because the more you think you see, the easier it'll be to fool you
Magic has always been important to Hollywood where countless films have been made on the subject in the last 100 years. Be it a movie with a magician who makes others disappear or those where a big illusion misguides the audience, cinegoers have loved the idea of being mystified in a theatre. Moreover, most of such films also succeeded at the box office, making them a bankable entity. Louis Leterrier's Now You See Me is one such new-age caper thriller that pits four different kinds of super-illusionists against an FBI crack squad and a former magician who makes a living revealing the tricks of the trade. They not only avoid their hopeful captors by staying one step ahead but also manage to pull off as many as three heists in the process!
It's all in the mind!

Now You See Me starts off with a powerful introduction, where The Four Horseman are introduced magically - that is performing tricks that will surprise you for sure. While J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg) is an illusionist who excels in skyscraper theatrics, Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson) is a mentalist who can read your mind. Atlas's former assistant Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher) and upcoming magician Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) complete the team that is assembled and helped by an unknown benefactor for a year, before they strike big. The first strike takes place at Las Vegas, in front of a packed audience where The Four Horsemen manage to rob a bank (situated in Paris) without leaving the stage. When apprehended (and later released), the magicians tell the FBI that this is just the beginning, and there is more to come.

In the process of pulling two more heists, The Four Horsemen make few friends and many enemies - including wealthy Arthur Tressler (Michael Caine), FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo), Interpol officer Alma Dray (Melanie Laurent) and Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman) - who think they are one step ahead of their illusionists, but in fact are many steps behind. Even the end is likely to make you feel content because in the world of magic, all's 'only' well when it ends well!

The closer you look, the less you see!

The easiest way to find out the name of a person's bank through magic … is through his credit card! This is how engaging the dialogues of this movie are and that's why you are kept on the edge of your seat most of the time. Be it robbing a bank in Paris, fooling the crowd in Las Vegas or showering money on the audience, every dialogue is well-written; each scene is well executed; and the direction is top notch. One didn't expect such an intense thriller from Louis Leterrier, the director of The Transporter 1 & 2, The Incredible Hulk and Clash of the Titans, but here he delivers his masterpiece.

Be the smartest man in the room!

That's the first rule of magic and in the movie, there are many men (and a woman) who vie for the post. Mark Ruffalo as the FBI agent steals the show with his compelling performance as the guy who doesn't trust anyone. He doesn't trust his partner, he doesn't like his boss and hates the fact that four magicians are able to do the unthinkable, and he doesn't know how. The scene in which he is chasing himself on foot is an example of how well he acted on screen whereas in another, he is so close to getting his man, but is unable to do so due to hocus pocus.

Jesse Eisenberg plays the confident de facto leader of the troupe who keeps us all into believing that magic is real. Veterans Michael Caine and Woody Harrelson also have good lines but Morgan Freeman stands tall amongst the supporting cast. As a former magician who has changed sides and now dwells in revealing magicians, his character is central to the plot. After Mark Ruffalo, Freeman is the most believable character in the movie, and his acting prowess is evident in whichever scene he is in.

What you see may not be what you get!

The film has a twist in the end, which builds up in the scenes in which Morgan Freeman's character Thaddeus Bradley reveals how the tricks were actually performed. He tells the audience and his fellow characters that it is possible to rob a French bank without leaving Las Vegas, it is possible to steal a safe that is under strict lock and key and that it is also possible that a man presumed dead can be alive, through magic. These explanatory scenes (read flashbacks) make you realize that along with the characters in the movie, The Four Horsemen managed to dupe you into believing what they wanted you to believe. It is only at the very end that the 'pot on gold at the end of the rainbow' is revealed, and audiences are left thunderstruck by the ingenuity of the story writer and the director.

Verdict - GOTCHA!

Now You See Me may not be as good as Christopher Nolan's The Prestige or Neil Burger's The Illusionist but it is not to be missed for obvious reasons. It keeps you engrossed to the plot from start till end, the lengthy flashback sequences give you a sense of astonishment that hasn't been seen in many years, and the end will stun you as if you were just released from a hypnotized state! The film has car chases, and death-defying stunts and I am sure that when you would leave the theatre, you would feel vindicated rather than cheated by the filmmakers. And let me remind you, despite reading this review, you will still not see the end coming!

Full Name:
Sanam Marvi
Born Place:
Hyderabad, Pakistan
Origin:
Pakistan
Genres:
Sufi, Folk Music
Occupations:
Singer
Years active:
2010 — present

Sanam Marvi is a Sufi singer based in Pakistan. She began studying music under the guidance of her father, Faqeer Ghulam Rasool, until the age of seven. Eventually Sanam visited India, where she trained under Ustad Fateh Ali Khan of Gwalior. While there, she felt that Indian audiences were more appreciative of her talent than those back home. She also observed that Indian audiences responded positively to Allama Iqbal, a famous Pakistani poet. Sanam often recited his poem Gesu-e-tabdaar ko aur bhi tabdaar kar during her performances in India.
One of Sanam’s goals as a musician is to make Sufi music more popular with both Indian and Pakistani youth. “I have never performed any pop song in my life and don’t even plan to,” she declared. “My objective is to perform at every Sufi festival across the world so that people of my generation and many more come (to be) familiarized with this culture. I am only 24, and if I can get fascinated by it, so can others.”1

As an artist, Sanam is inspired by the women of Sindh who have a special song for every occasion that they sing to the beat of a dhol, or Eastern drum. She hopes to break new ground with one of her upcoming projects, a collection of Sindhi songs. 2
Sanam not only hopes to break new ground musically, but socially as well. In February 2011, Sanam performed with Indian singer Rekha Bhardwaj in a concert for Aman ki Asha, an India-Pakistan peace project which was initiated by the Times of India and Pakistani Jang Group news outlets in an effort to spread peace through music. Rekha seemed to sum up the central message of the concert, saying, “I do not believe in Islam, I do not believe in Hinduism, I do not believe in any religion. All I believe in is the power of love and humanity.”

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan A Living Legend

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

Birth name Pervez Fateh Ali Khan
Born 13 October 1948 Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan
Died August 16, 1997 (aged 48) London, England
Genres Qawwali, Ghazal, Fusion
Occupations Musician
Instruments Vocals, harmonium
Years active 1965–1997
Labels Real World, OSA, EMI, Virgin Records
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan  (Punjabi: نصرت فتح علی خان (Shahmukhī)) (born in Faisalabad, Pakistan) (October 13, 1948 – August 16, 1997) is the scion of a family whose name has become synonymous with a South Asian musical tradition ten centuries old, which has only in recent years captured the imagination of listeners in the West.
Qawwali music (the word derives from the Arabic word “qual”, which means “belief” or “credo”) is the explosive devotional music of the Sufis –Muslim mystics — of Pakistan and the Indian Subcontinent. It originated in the 10th century as a blend of Persian and Central Asian poetic, philosophical and religious elements with North Indian musical expression. Originally, and still today, the most common venues for the performance of Qawwali music are the traditional Thursday evening sessions of Sufi congregates gathered at the shrines of any of the hundreds of Muslim saints of the region. Groups of Qawwals (the lead performers of this music) play through the night, the best performing near dawn. The Qawwals are heard by “the friends” (the rank-and-file members of the Sufi orders themselves) the Pirs (holy men who serve as spiritual guides) and by laymen a like. Significantly, qawwali music evolved long ago into a popular form of musical expression with a wide following among persons of all the South Asian religious faiths.
Qawwali music is inseparably linked to the name of Amir Khusrau (1254-1325), court musician, composer, poet and mystic, who experimented with diverse musical forms, combining the Indian and the Persian and the Muslim Sufi, arriving at a penetrating synthesis of Islamic devotional texts with North Indian classical music. Toward the middle of the sixteenth century, an idiosyncratic style of qawwali music arose in the Punjab which came to be known as the Punjabi ‘Ang’, weaving the profound texts of Punjabi Sufism with folk material including more energetic percussive themes and newfound haunting melodies.
In modern times, another individual emerged as the central figure in qawwali music, destined to carry the music to new audiences and, for the first time, beyond the borders of the lands of its origins. His name was Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (1949-1997). Nusrat, a singer of mythic proportions with a worldly other, trance-inducing voice, was the son of the great Fateh Ali Khan, brother of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan, and uncle of Rahat. In Sufi Islam, Qawwali is also a form of prayer and an ultimate link to God. Although Qawwali is a symbol of Sufi Islam, Qawwali tradition was dying but credit goes to Nusrat that he brought back Qawwali into the world and positively used his rhythmic music to bring people together.
He was discovered and promoted by British pop star Peter Gabriel through Gabriel’s Real World record label and WOMAD international festival production company beginning in 1988,creating a wave of interest among listeners in the West. Soon He was appreciated and followed by people around the world. He has been awarded on a number of occasions during his lifetime, some of which include: Unicef Musical Award, French cultural Award, French grand-prix Award and Japan foco Asian cultural award.
Nusrat was one of the greatest artists of Sufi music and he carried a spiritual message to the world. He was like an ambassador of peace, he carried the message of Allah which is peace and love. In fact Nusrat gave a positive image of the Muslims to the world. His music and voice were like a bridge between all religions, spreading the message of peace and spirituality to the masses. His untimely death was widely mourned outside of South Asia and his recordings continue to exhibit a measure of mass appeal throughout the entire world.
In the last five decades, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan and Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan were considered the past-master of the Qawwali. Both the brothers were gre.n Ustads of classical Music and their virtuosity in Qawwali is acknowledged by every one. Especially, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan Qawwal was a great musicologist. Vocalist and instrumentalist.
Qawwals were taught under his tutelage. Ustad Fateh Ali Khan Qawwal was a great patriot. On Pakistan’s Movement, he composed many good tunes in the praise of Muslim League and Quaid-e-Azam. He performed these tunes in every nook and corner of the Sub-Continent and gave the message of Allama Iqbal and the Quaid to the nation and alert them from the hypocrite Hindus and irijected the people for the want of Pakistan. And when Pakistan came into being, Kh. Nazimuddin and Nawabzada Liaquat Ali ~Khan applauded much and acknawledged the great Service of Ustad Fateh Ali Khan Qawwal. The Government of Pakistan gave them the richest award “Pride of Performance” in 1960. Ustad Fateh Ali Khan Qawwal died in 1964. At that time his son Nusrat was in Matric. He was compelled to join the party by his family members. Under the guidance af his paternal Uncle Ustad Mabarak Ali Khan, he became the Party’s leader and the party started with the new title — Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Mujahid Mabarak Ali Khan & Party. IN no time, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan got hold on all the prominent Qawwal parties and his familiarity spreaded like the jungle’s fire in the country. Then the famous ntovies maker Rajkapoor booked him on his son Rishi Kappor’s marriage in Bombay. In India, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan gave a remarkable perfarmance on many stages and spellbound the audience by his untouchable speed of “Sargam” and astonishing rhythmetic use in qawwali . After this tour, Nusrat got the unmatched position in the Sub-Continent. In the yester years he toured abroad. He was booked in Great Britain by WOMAD festival; he toured successfully to France, Japan, Holland, South Africa, Portugal Mid-East and Saudi Arabia. He performed Hajj and observed “Umra” twicely. The Government of Pakistan, on his splended services to represent Pakistan’s Culture in foreign countries honoured him with “Pride of Performance in 1986.”
After his tour of Amercia, the American government moved by his stj.~le of Qawali and songs; honoured Nusrat to teach his music and give some lectures to the University students in America. Nusrat a versatile singer for the great composer, Peter Gabriel, who booked him for his movie “The Last Temptation of Christ” as a playback singer and obviously its a great honour for a Pakistani Singer.
Nusrat Khan is now, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He is a great ctasical vocalist of the calibre. For the last 23 years, he too is singing classical music on the Anniversary of his father at Faisalabad. He gave many unforgettable classical.
Performances on stages of Arijuman Ittehad, Mosiqaran LHR.; Classical Music Guild (Pak) All Pakistan Music Conferences. He won a great many titles. Most probably from every country where he performed and many appreciable nicknames i.e. Mr. Ali Ali Mr. Allah Hoo, Buddha etc etc. Ustad Nusrat s contributions in Qawali classical music and compositions are marvellous. His name is a certificate in all the spheres of music. His luring personality wins the hearts of his visitors. He is a thorough gentleman, hosptialble and sympathetic. He is a pride of Pakistan and pakistan is proud of him.

Meanwhile, Lopez and her boyfriend Casper Smart have been fighting!
According to a new report, the pair came to blows when Casper accused Lopez of cheating on him with red-hot rapper Pitbull.
“Casper is convinced Jennifer is fooling around with Pitbull behind his back and that he’s on the chopping block,” a source said.
“He confronted her and demanded to know if she’s having an affair with Pitbull. Then he ordered her to cut ties with him. Jen was so taken aback that at first she just laughed in Casper’s face.
“But then she got really mad. She shot back at him, ‘Don’t you talk to me like that!’ and stormed off.
“Later, she reminded Casper that she’s the boss and moneymaker in the relationship – and if he doesn’t like the terms, he can hit the road. And if Jen dumps him, Casper knows his days of living high on the hog are over. He broke down and sobbed, ‘Jen can’t leave me yet – she promised to make me famous!’

“Casper is so jealous that he’s even started copying Pitbull’s mannerisms. He thinks that if he acts more like Pitbull Jen will like him more, but his desperation makes him even less appealing to Jen.”
Jennifer, 44, and Pitbull, 32, have worked together on multiple projects since 2009. They caused an uproar last year when they performed their song Dance Again on American Idol, steaming up the stage with a sexy bump and grind that was deemed too racy for TV.
Jennifer, who has 5-year-old twins with soon-to-be ex-husband Marc Anthony, recently acknowledged that she’d like to get married again. But she’s told pals she doesn’t think Casper is husband material.
“He’s immature and he doesn’t have the drive, ambition and self-made success that Jen does,” the source explained. “She loved being part of a Latin power couple with Marc, and she’d love nothing more than to get married again to a singer of her stature.
“Pitbull certainly fits the bill – and the fact that Jen refused to deny she’s fooling around with him speaks volumes.

Singer Jennifer Lopez says women have taken over the music world and are ruling the industry.

The 43-year-old has been part of music world from over a decade and belted out hits like "If you had my love", "Jenny from the block", "Get right" and "On the floor".

"Women have taken over the music industry - when you think of all the female artists who are out," Stylist magazine quoted Lopez as saying.

"Even going back 20 years, back to Cher, Gloria Estefan and that whole time with Mariah Carey and Celine Dion and then the next wave which was me and then Britney (Spears) and Beyonce to what`s continued to now the Rihanna and Lady Gaga," she added.

Unlike many actresses, Iman Ali is always found speaking openly about her disease; knowing the fact that this can jeopardize her career. When asked the reason in an interview, she replied:
‘I’ve been open because people in Pakistan don’t know about MS. I’ve seen a lot of cases where women have not taken it seriously until they’re in a wheel chair and their condition is out of control. It targets mostly women so people find it convenient to ignore. Awareness has to be created: it was recently discovered that multiple sclerosis is life threatening. I motivated Nadia Khan to do a show on it. I don’t understand why anyone would hide it? Alopathic treatment is unaffordable to most people and I now want to spread awareness about the alternative methods available. I really want to make some difference and share my experience once I’m back from India where I’ll be gone for around six to seven weeks. Before leaving I want to clarify that I am not going to Bombay to make films; I am going to Dehradun for alternative therapy on MS.’
Currently, Iman Ali is single and lives in Lahore. In an interview when asked about a kind of man she wants; she replied

Kareena Kapoor Decides Not To Have Kids

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor not willing to have kids

Marriage and then children, this is the tradition going on from century to century but
Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor is known to speak her mind.
Happily married to Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor says that just like any other regular couple they try to enjoy small pleasures of life by doing things together.
Tired of endless speculation about her motherhood plans, Kareena might decide on not having children.
Recently in an interview with a leading magazine, Kareena revealed about her motherhood plans too, which are none! The diva may even decide to never have children.
She was irked at the fact that earlier, everyone would ask her about her marriage plans. Now, that she is married to Saif people just want to know about their plans of having a baby.
She was witnessed quoting, "Earlier it was when are they going to get married? Now everyone wants to know when is she having a baby? Who knows, I might even decide not to have kids. I am just 32. And Saif already has 2 kids. We are not a typical Indian couple who get married just so they can have a child. We are modern."
"Saif and I are just a regular couple and it's nice to be able to enjoy dinner at our favourite restaurant without light bulbs flashing in our faces constantly," says Kareena.
"As a celebrity, being under constant media glare is a job hazard. But I truly appreciate the privacy the media has given me when it comes to my personal life," she said.
Being at the top of her career, the actress of hits like "Jab We Met" is busy with endorsements, films and other events. But she makes sure to take out time for Saif Ali Khan .
"Being from the same industry, Saif completely understands the pressure that comes with being an actor. While we never sideline our work, we ensure that we sneak in some 'us time' in the midst of our hectic schedules- be it catching up a movie together, a quiet dinner or an impromptu vacation," she said.
The actress further added: "Saif has always been extremely supportive and encouraging and I'm really grateful to him for the same."
She also revealed that they purposefully did not invite the entire film industry for their marriage last year.

Saif and Kareena tied the knot last year after being in a five-year long relationship. While Saif was married to actress Amrita Singh, Kareena was in a steady relationship with actor Shahid Kapoor.

Surprisingly, Kareena's career has not been affected by her marriage as she continues to be one of the leading actresses of Bollywood today. She has number of prestigious projects in her kitty including Prakash Jha's 'Satyagraha' and Punit Malhotra's 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein'.
