One of the most talented and versatile actresses in B-town, Amrita Rao was seen portraying a very serious role in her recent political drama, Satyagraha. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood3, Amrita speaks about the film, her role and the current political scenario in the country.
1. Satyagraha has garnered a lot of critical and commercial acclaim. Are you happy with the film’s success?
Ans: Well, more than happiness I am extremely lucky and proud to be a part of a film like this.
2. What is Satyagraha all about?
Ans: Satyagraha showcases the problems that India is facing today. It is a clear reflection to many current issues

3, Is the film inspired from Anna Hazare’s protest?
Ans: The only similarity to Anna Hazare is that even he is fighting against corruption in India, but Satyagraha is nothing close to his protests and neither is any character in the film inspired by him.
4. You played a rather different role in Satyagraha when compared to your previous movies. What do you have to say about this?
Ans: Yes, I played a very different and important role in the film. My character’s graph keeps going through a lot of ups and downs in the movie, but the major plus point is that one can easily relate with my character.
5. What do you have to say about the recent Mumbai gang rape incident.
Ans: It is such an shameful incident. It is high time that Government starts doing some thing about acts like these. If the fast-track court takes more than six months then what is the use of implementing it?
6. Do you think that the public should start a Satyagraha towards acts like this?
Ans: Yes ! Of course the public should unite and fight notorious deeds like these. The government should also support them by taking strict action and punish the culprits before the public start loosing hope on our judiciary.
